Fat Tire Fiesta Picture Rally Preview
A preview of a new activity for this year's Fat Tire Fiesta, a
mountain bike picture rally, will be held on Thursday, August
28th, starting at 5:15PM on the Socorro Plaza.
Our first picture rally was held in May; the rally started from
the plaza, and each team had a packet of photos taken around
Socorro, where each photo represented a location on the rally. For
reference, each photo contained a shot of M Mountain. There was
writing on the road along the rally; the objective was to spot
as much of the writing as possible, and make sense of it by the
end of the rally.
So please come to the Plaza and help preview the Fat Tire Fiesta
picture rally. Some preparation is needed for this to run smoothly
at the actual event.

Regular Meeting To Be Held Tuesday
The September regular club meeting will be held on Tuesday,
September 2nd, at the public library meeting
room. Currently on the agenda is a triathlon wrap-up, a Fat Tire
Fiesta report, a report on the Fall Running Series, and a
discussion of club jerseys (again).

Duke City And Rio Grande Marathon Date Conflict
It was recently brought to our attention that the Duke
City Marathon (Albuquerque) and the Rio Grande Marathon
(Las Cruces) have landed on the same date, October
26th. You choose. Both events offer a marathon,
marathon relay, half-marathon, and 5K run and walk. Duke
City also offers a marathon walk and a kids-K. Both are
Boston qualifiers. Duke City has a website, while Rio
Grande has an entry form,
and will have a website by
October.

Fall Running Series Announced
A series of 5K races is planned for the Fall, to be held on Sunday
mornings starting on September 7th, and every third
Sunday thereafter. This'll be a low-key event, with prizes going
to the overall winners in each of four age groups in both
genders. The series fee is $5 and that'll buy entry into all four
races and a series T-shirt. All races meet in front of the EMRTC
building (at the rattlesnake sculpture). The actual courses will

Hash House Harriers Meet September 4
The sixth meeting of the Socorro Hash House Harriers will be at
6PM at the brew pub on September 4th. The run starts at
6:30PM with a live hare! It's also Just Laura's 5th
hash, and she gets an official hash name! She'll join Virtual
Clinton, Nuclear Seaman, and Papa Don't Preach as named Socorro
Hash House Harriers.

- Cycling (MTB): Friday 11:30 AM, meet at the IRIS Parking Lot.
